Old Scholars

The MLC/Annesley College Old Scholars’ Association began in 1905 in the form of the MLC Guild, and was a way for former pupils of the school to meet regularly, thereby maintaining friendships. The first meetings were literary and music evenings with girls writing essays for discussion, or perhaps reading a Shakespearian play. A detailed history of the Association has been written by Daphne Gum, entitled ‘A Rich Tapestry of Lives’ in celebration of the 90th birthday of the MLC/Annesley Old Scholars’ Association and is available through the school.

In its present form, the Association organises a wide range of events catering for all ages. A key focus is Old Scholars’ Week, held annually. It also supports the Annesley Old Scholars’ Hockey Club. The onsite Patchell Historical Centre provides a wealth of information on the College and its heritage.
