MLC / ANNESLEY COLLEGE
OLD SCHOLARS ASSOCIATION INC.

The First MLC Guild, 1906About the Old Scholars Association

The MLC/Annesley College Old Scholars Association began in 1905 in the form of the MLC Guild, and was a way for former pupils of the school to meet regularly, thereby maintaining friendships. The first meetings were literary and music evenings with girls writing essays for discussion, or perhaps reading a Shakespearian play.

A detailed history of the association has been written by Daphne Gum, entitled 'A Rich Tapestry of Lives' in celebration of the 90th birthday of the MLC/Annesley Old Scholars Association and is available through the school.

In its present form, the association organises a wide range of events catering for all ages, from café dinners for the younger members, to bridge days and fashion parades. The association donates its Old Scholars Week Service offering to Rose Ward at the Women's and Children's Hospital, as well as donating items and money to the school, most recently purchasing an electric piano for the Chapel, in memory of Miss Ruth Watts, a former student of MLC and a former Headmistress of MLC and Annesley College.

The highlight of the calendar of events is Old Scholars Week to which all Old Scholars whether financial members or not, are invited to attend.

You may contact the Old Scholars Association by calling Mrs Radmila Spasojevic on (08) 8422 2288 or by email at osa@annesley.sa.edu.au
