History of Medicine

The History of Medicine is an exciting new Year 10 course which enables students to undertake a development study of medicine and health from ancient times to the present day.

Students work through unique source material and case studies as part of a chronological survey. This survey involves studying how humans have explored human physiology, the causes of illness and methods of treating illness over the centuries. The students utilise information and communication technologies in researching topics and the presentation of their work.

The course encourages students to consider the factors that have introduced or hindered important changes in medicine and health through time. Concepts such as continuity and change, progress and regress, turning points, causes and explanations are developed through the course.
