Adventure awaits beyond the school gate!

The Quest is Annesley’s bespoke and signature experiential learning program that takes the learning of our students out into the world around them. Our students ‘learn by doing’ in a range of natural settings chosen to foster resilience and independence, stretch and inspire our young, but capable learners. The Quest is teaching the skills of human capacity, the skills that technology and automation cannot attain. Far more than a one-off experience, The Quest builds upon skills and curiosities as students visit locations weekly and grow in their understanding of themselves, others and the local environment. Our enviable city-fringe location is taken advantage of as the students navigate public and private transport and unearth the treasures of Adelaide and its surrounds.

Year 3

Base 3 Students become ZoosSA members and the Adelaide Zoo, Botanic Gardens and Monarto Zoo becomes their ‘Outdoor Classroom’ every Tuesday in Term 3.

Year 5

Students spend every Monday in Term 3 developing their skills in a variety of environments; orienteering in Belair National Park, hiking from Waterfall Gully to Mt Lofty, riding a bike 35kms along the River Torrens to the beach and back, cooking on a Trangia camp stove and learning about the social justice work of charity Treasure Boxes.

Significant Adult Program
We value the opportunity for our students to spend quality time with a significant adult in their life. To facilitate this, in Year 4 they invite a family member to spend a night in a tent onsite at Annesley in Term 4 and in Year 5, they again invite a family member to camp the last night in Deep Creek Conservation Park of the Base 5 Camp. Adults and children deepen their relationship through shared adventure and quality time.

Annesley’s students truly have a valued voice in our community and their safety and wellbeing is paramount. We are committed to and act in line with the Child Safe Organisations National Principles. We partner with industry leaders Beyond Limits for our Camps and Experiential Learning programs, including The Quest.
