Year 6 Exhibition
Our Year 6 students have shone this week, presenting their Year 6 Exhibition to our community. They created engaging, interactive exhibits of their learning this year within their Unit of Inquiry ‘Ethical business balances market forces with responsible decision making’.
This is significant, authentic and engaging learning and they showcased written work, research statistics and artistic elements that deepened their knowledge and understanding. Their Enterprise projects are directly related to this learning and demonstrate their ethical decision making and commitment to a better world.
Did you see the new ‘Dare to Become’ water bottles for sale at a ‘pop up stall’ in our play spaces this morning, or in our Café? Look out for other products connected to their learning at our upcoming markets, including locally farmed honey and milkweed seedlings to support the establishment of butterfly and bee habitats.
Hope for our world exists in the learning that Annesley students engage in each day, empowering them to make informed decisions, with capable skillsets as custodians tasked with creating a sustainable future.

Banksia's unearthing
At Annesley we are very fortunate to have our farm. The children in the Banksia room have been making the most of this by visiting regularly to “feed the worms” our fruit scraps and spend some time in nature, observing changes and greeting our chickens and rabbits. The frequency of our visits is a direct result of the children’s requests to “go to the farm?”.
The Banksia children are passionate about composting and in particular, looking for worms as we dig the hole to bury our fruit scraps in the compost. There are cries of “there’s one!”, “that’s a big one!”, “LOOK!”. The children have been involved in collecting, transporting and using the nutrient rich compost in our planting, back in the Banksia and Eucalypt garden. We have planted butterfly attracting plants that we hope will flourish under our care.
During each visit to the farm, we are noticing changes in nature, especially seasonal changes. Recently we have noticed that bare trees now have blossoms, and leaf growth has flourished. We are observing carefully to see what becomes of the beautiful pink blossoms as well as the flowers on the citrus trees. Our regular visits encourage development of language (Early Years Learning Framework, Outcome 5), scientific thinking and observations (Outcome 4), teamwork and cooperation (Outcome 4).

Show stoppers!
Congratulations to Grace from Base 4, who earned a merit and medal in the Junior Art and Craft category (ages 10-13) at the Royal Adelaide Show for her beautifully crocheted turtle in a water scene!
Additionally, a big shoutout to Eva and her Matrics netball team, who celebrated a fantastic victory in the Grand Final, receiving medals and a trophy at the prizegiving. Well done to both students for their hard work and achievements!

Budding Lunch registrations now open!
Registrations are open for Budding Lunch next term. Please get them in as early as possible to support our administration and catering requirements via School Stream.
Over the last three weeks, we have trialed our students in House Groups at Budding Lunch.
Whilst reminiscent of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Great Hall where they sit in their four houses, it has also brought to Budding Lunch:
- A calmer and quieter dining experience
- Students knowing where to sit, rather than rushing to find a table
- Connection across year levels, creating a stronger sense of belonging within Houses
Join your housemates for breakfast!
Please select your House date and join us from 8:15 to 8:45 AM at the Bouncing Bean Café. This is a wonderful opportunity to mingle with fellow families while enjoying a light breakfast and delicious coffee from our café.
We hope you can join us for some Annesley spirit!
You are invited: Old Scholars Drinks
U-Turns on Rose Terrace
We ask our families to refrain from undertaking U-turns on Rose Terrace when bringing your child to school or collecting them at the end of the day. It is unlawful to do a U-turn over the yellow barriers on the road and a safety concern during peak times for our community along Rose Terrace during these busy times.

October Holidays Vacation Care
Kiss ‘n’ Drop
Through recent engagement with the Unley Council, they have confirmed guidelines for our community to follow when using the Kiss ‘n’ Drop zone. Drivers must remain within 3 metres of their car in this zone and can only remain stopped for 2 minutes. If a driver moves further than 3 metres away, the 2-minute period no longer applies. We have had regular inspections from Unley Council of this zone recently. We ask our community members to adhere to these guidelines to avoid getting fined, and to keep our Kiss ‘n’ Drop zone functioning effectively.
Supervision before and after school
A reminder to Primary families that supervision for our students is provided from 8.30am on school grounds. Prior to this time, students are not to be left onsite without an adult family member. Our Before School OSHC Service is available to families requiring early supervision from 7.30am to 8.30am. Similarly, staff supervision is provided after school until 3.45pm. OSHC is available to families needing care after school until 6pm.
