Setting up for Success
It’s been wonderful to see everyone back at school for the first two weeks! We’ve been focused on setting up for success and ensuring that all our students are ready to learn. Creating a positive and supportive environment is at the heart of what we do, and it’s been great to see the enthusiasm and energy from both students and staff.
Fostering a love for learning is essential for our students’ growth and development. Our approach is centered around creating an environment where children feel happy, safe, and included. This positive atmosphere encourages students to make respectful, inclusive, and positive choices.
Students are encouraged to embrace new learning opportunities with enthusiasm. By nurturing a love for learning, we help them develop a lifelong passion for knowledge. Our goal is to support each child in their journey to discover and explore new ideas, skills, and concepts.
Children thrive when they are supported by caring adults. Our teachers and staff model, teach, and guide students to make positive choices. By demonstrating inclusive and respectful behaviour, we help students understand the importance of these values in their daily lives.
We recognise that children are at different stages of learning about positive choices. Our focus is on supporting all students to understand the best way for them to be ready to learn. We invest in acknowledging and celebrating our students’ positive choices and personal successes. Recognition and encouragement play a crucial role in motivating children to continue making good decisions. We also provide opportunities for students to reflect on their efforts and achievements through ‘what went well’ discussions in class. This reflection helps them appreciate their progress and set goals for future growth.
The principles of being ready to learn have been the foundation for our first two weeks back at school. Each morning, classes discuss the Learning Space Essential Agreement and Yard Essential Agreement. These discussions ensure that all students understand what is expected of them and how we can all work together to create a safe and supportive school environment.
We are committed to creating a learning environment where every child feels valued and supported. By fostering a love for learning and promoting positive, inclusive behavior, we help our students become confident, respectful, and enthusiastic learners. Together, we can ensure that every child is ready to learn and succeed.

Year 6 Leader Induction Ceremony
On Wednesday morning, we proudly held our Year 6 Leader Induction Ceremony, officially welcoming our Year 6 Leaders and Annesley Seniors. We also inducted our School, House, Environment, and Service Leaders, recognising their formal leadership roles within our school community.
All our Year 6 students are already embracing their new roles with enthusiasm, stepping up to their responsibilities, creating legacy projects and serving as role models to our younger students.
Thank you to the family and friends who joined us to commemorate this special milestone. We look forward to seeing our Student Leaders thrive in their special year ahead.
In Fashion: Annesley House T-shirts
Our new Annesley House T-Shirts were worn this week for the first time! Have you noticed the colourful addition to our uniform in the playground or at assembly?
If you haven’t bought your must have Annelsey fashion item yet, they can be ordered now on School Stream. Our primary students can wear these each Wednesday to school and of course at Sports Day and Cross Country.
Congratulations to James and Charlie who led this initiative as their Enterprise project last year, working through each stage of the process, from idea to design, from research and consultation to promotion, from ordering to delivery!
Flinders University visit Budding Lunch
Four final-year Nutrition and Dietetics students from Flinders University joined us Wednesday to observe our Budding Lunch Program. They were really impressed by its success and innovation, recognising its impact in promoting healthy eating and real-world learning for our students. We enjoyed having them visit and share in this experience.
New Laptops for our Seniors
Our Year 6 students received their new laptops, as part of our commitment to prepare our students to transition successfully to secondary school.
Celebrating turning 100!
Today, our Mid-Year Reception students celebrated 100 days of school in style.
With crazy accessories, face paint and fancy hair, they celebrated this milestone with excitement. The celebrations wrapped up with a disco at the end of the day. Reaching 100 days is a wonderful achievement, highlighting how much our young learners have grown. Congratulations to you all.

Annesley Vacation Care Program
During the January Vacation Care program, students engaged in a diverse array of incursions and excursions, each featuring unique themes. This enriching experience allowed students to explore new activities, develop valuable skills, and expand their knowledge while being part of the vibrant community at Annesley Junior School OSHC. Throughout this period, students forged new connections and embraced new responsibilities as they prepared for the upcoming school year.
The OSHC students successfully achieved various learning outcomes during their adventures, which not only supported their physical and emotional well-being but also reinforced previously acquired knowledge. The dedicated OSHC staff are excited to welcome students back for the April Vacation Care program. Bookings will open, and an informative poster will be released in Week 5, providing all necessary details for families.

Parent Class Representatives
At the start of each school year, we seek 1-2 Class Representatives for each class (ELC-Year 6). This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved in our school community and make a positive impact.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to those parents who have already nominated themselves. Your willingness to contribute is greatly appreciated!
There are still a few positions vacant, so if you’re interested, please reach out to your class teacher. We look forward to working together to create a vibrant and supportive environment for our children!
Annesley Policies
For your information, we include in this newsletter recently updated Annesley Policies:
Annesley Policies can be found our website (selected policies only) and other relevant policies for families are kept in the Policies Tab on School Stream.
U-Turns on Rose Terrace
We ask our families to refrain from undertaking U-turns on Rose Terrace when bringing your child to school or collecting them at the end of the day. It is unlawful to do a U-turn over the yellow barriers on the road and a safety concern during peak times for our community along Rose Terrace during these busy times.
Applications for siblings
A reminder to all families that if you have younger children that you have not yet submitted an application form for, that it can be done via this link: https://enrol.annesley.sa.edu.au/application-for-admission/start
An application must be submitted in order for a child to be considered for a place.
If you are not sure if you have submitted an application and wish to check, or for any other questions, please contact Laura in the Student Enrolments Office on 8422 2211 or email enrolments@annesley.sa.edu.au
Kiss ‘n’ Drop
Through recent engagement with the Unley Council, they have confirmed guidelines for our community to follow when using the Kiss ‘n’ Drop zone. Drivers must remain within 3 metres of their car in this zone and can only remain stopped for 2 minutes. If a driver moves further than 3 metres away, the 2-minute period no longer applies. We have had regular inspections from Unley Council of this zone recently. We ask our community members to adhere to these guidelines to avoid getting fined, and to keep our Kiss ‘n’ Drop zone functioning effectively.
Supervision before and after school
A reminder to Primary families that supervision for our students is provided from 8.30am on school grounds. Prior to this time, students are not to be left onsite without an adult family member. Our Before School OSHC Service is available to families requiring early supervision from 7.30am to 8.30am. Similarly, staff supervision is provided after school until 3.45pm. OSHC is available to families needing care after school until 6pm.
Calling for Unify donations
Calling all families to donate gently used Annesley uniforms to Unify, our student-led pop-up shop for second-hand uniforms.
