Principal’s News; From the Director of Primary
We are excited to announce that starting next term, our school will be transitioning to a new Learning Management System (LMS) to enhance the sharing of learning experiences between students, teachers, and parents. This new system will replace Seesaw and bring several improvements to how we communicate and engage with you about your child’s education.
Why the Change?
Our new LMS offers a more comprehensive and user-friendly platform that will allow us to:
Streamline Communication: Receive timely updates on your child’s progress, upcoming events, and important announcements.
Access Learning Materials: Easily view and download assigned tasks, lesson plans, and educational resources.
Engage in Your Child’s Learning: Participate in interactive activities and provide feedback on your child’s work.
Eventually, this new LMS will also replace School Stream, making it a ‘one-stop shop’ for communication, consents, payments and learning.
What to Expect?
We have been working on this LMS as a staff for the past 12 months to ensure it is well-suited for our school and that our staff are fully trained. We have trialed the system with teachers and a couple of classes, and have also involved a few parents to provide feedback.
We will be rolling out the new LMS in parts throughout the term to ensure a smooth transition. In the coming weeks, we will provide detailed instructions on how to access and use the new LMS. There will be:
Support Resources: Comprehensive guides and FAQs will be available to assist you with any questions or issues.
Feedback Opportunities: We value your input and will offer opportunities for you to share your experiences and suggestions.
We will keep you informed with more information about each phase of the rollout as the term progresses.
We believe this new LMS will greatly enhance our ability to support your child’s learning journey and foster a stronger connection between home and school. We value your partnership and look forward to a smooth transition.

Spangler Gymnasium
Last night, we officially celebrated the naming of our gym as the Spangler Gymnasium. Bruce Spangler AM and his family were present to cut the ribbon at our official naming ceremony. We proudly acknowledged Bruce’s dedicated service as Chair of Council during the formative years of Annesley Junior School 2010-2024. Bruce’s services to our school has been remarkable and his commitment to governance during the time of change in Annesley’s history to Annesley Junior School was instrumental in forming the successful school we all enjoy today.
Annesley Mother's Day Morning
This sunny Friday morning, the Annesley Parents’ Association hosted a beautiful Mother’s Day celebration for all our incredible Annesley mothers and mother figures. It was a fantastic turnout, with guests joining their children in classrooms for special classroom activities, followed by delicious treats, drinks and prizes at the Bouncing Bean Café.
Thank you to everyone who was able to join, and a heartfelt thank you to our incredible Annesley Parents’ Association for all their hard work in making this such a memorable morning.
Wishing all the Annesley mothers and mother figures a lovely Sunday, and we thank you for all that you do.
2025 Cross Country
Today, our students took part in the highly anticipated 2025 Annesley Cross Country event. A brilliant afternoon and an exciting test of endurance and determination between the Houses. The event showcased not only impressive athletic talent but also wonderful sportsmanship from all students.
Congratulations to our winning house Nemea, and well done to everyone who gave it their all on the course!
A big thank you to all our staff especially Penny and Zac for their fantastic organisation and leadership in making this event such a success.
Year 6 Quest
Learn, create, conserve are the principles behind Cleland Wildlife Park. Base 6 embarked on their first Quest adventure this year and immersed themselves in the parks environment feeding the animals and learning about the sustainable tourism model the park operates on. Did you know the cafe at Cleland is 100% waste free?. We can’t wait to learn more and make connection to our own enterprise projects.
French
So far this term in French we have been focusing on increasing our knowledge of classroom language so that we can understand more instructions and communicate more confidently in French.
In Leanne’s Reception class this week, we started by learning some key classroom instructions that we hear spoken regularly such as: répétez, silence, écoutez and arrêtez! Students picked the new language up quickly and we played Simon Dit (Simon says) to practise our listening and comprehension skills. Alexis, Max and Eliza gave a little demonstration of the actions they have learnt for each of the phrases.
Spotlight on Emily Casey
Meet Emily!
Reception Leanne
From love grows action
The Reception students are engaging with the Annesley Farm to support our Sharing the Planet Inquiry, and the Humanities and Social Sciences Curriculum. Through exploring the places we learn and play in, we are beginning to identify places that are important to us and how we can care for them.
We have also been studying literature by First Nations Australians to develop an understanding of their relationship with place, connecting this to the Kaurna land that Annesley is on.
Our aim is for students to develop a sense of belonging with the farm, a reciprocal relationship that enhances Country. We hope that students will develop a love for this place that they can transfer to other places, living in peace with our planet.
Old Scholars Current Annesley Junior School Community
To foster connections among our current families who are also Old Scholars, the Old Scholars Committee are hosting a special morning tea. We warmly invite Old Scholars of Annesley College and MLC, who are current parents, grandparents, aunts, or special friends. A new addition this year, is to invite the children of Old Scholars to join us to this event as we celebrate our multigenerational Annesley families and proud history.
When: Friday, 16th May
Time: 8:15 – 9:15am
Where: Annesley Dining Room/Bouncing Bean Cafe
RSVP: On School Stream before Wed 14 May at 9am
We look forward to seeing you there!

U-Turns on Rose Terrace
We ask our families to refrain from undertaking U-turns on Rose Terrace when bringing your child to school or collecting them at the end of the day. It is unlawful to do a U-turn over the yellow barriers on the road and a safety concern during peak times for our community along Rose Terrace during these busy times.

Kiss & Drop
Through recent engagement with the Unley Council, they have confirmed guidelines for our community to follow when using the Kiss & Drop zone. Drivers must remain within 3 metres of their car in this zone and can only remain stopped for 2 minutes. If a driver moves further than 3 metres away, the 2-minute period no longer applies. We have had regular inspections from Unley Council of this zone recently. We ask our community members to adhere to these guidelines to avoid getting fined, and to keep our Kiss & Drop zone functioning effectively.
Supervision before and after school
A reminder to Primary families that supervision for our students is provided from 8.30am on school grounds. Prior to this time, students are not to be left onsite without an adult family member. Our Before School OSHC Service is available to families requiring early supervision from 7.30am to 8.30am. Similarly, staff supervision is provided after school until 3.45pm. OSHC is available to families needing care after school until 6pm.
