Principal’s News: from the Director of Learning and Teaching
Year 6 PYP Exhibition 2025
Congratulations to our Year 6 students who presented their PYP Exhibition to the wider school community this week.
Transdisciplinary Theme: How we Organise Ourselves.
Central Idea: Ethical business balances market forces with responsible decision making.
The Year 6 Exhibition, which is the culminating experience for students in their final year of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). provided a fitting celebration of just how far our Year 6 students have developed as Internationally – minded learners. Our Year 6 students had to draw on the skills, understandings, knowledge and attributes they have developed throughout their time in the Primary Years to conduct an in-depth, collaborative inquiry into an important issue relating to their Enterprise projects. Through the Exhibition, our students demonstrated their ability to take meaningful action as a result of their learning and share their understanding in creative and engaging ways. The students will continue actioning their Enterprise ideas in Term 4 and we look forward to seeing them action their learning to impact our world.

Jump for Heart Health
Today, our students had a blast taking part in Jump Rope for Heart, raising funds and awareness for the Heart Foundation. Junior and senior students joined in the fun, skipping and engaging in heart-healthy activities to support life-saving research.
It was a joyful sunny morning filled with movement, teamwork, and giving back. Annesley’s commitment to this cause is a wonderful example of how young hearts can make a big difference.
Anney Update
As we approach the end of Term 3, we want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and patience as we transition to our new Learning Management System (LMS), Anney, which became parent-facing just 10 weeks ago.
This rollout marks a significant step forward in how we communicate and collaborate as a school community. While we’re still in the early stages, your understanding has been invaluable as we adapt and refine the system. We know change can bring challenges, and we’re truly grateful for the grace and encouragement you’ve shown during this time.
A special shout-out to our incredible staff, who have embraced Anney with enthusiasm and creativity. From exploring new features to rethinking how learning is shared, their commitment to making this system work for the school, students and families alike has been nothing short of inspiring. Of course, none of this would be possible without the support and trust of our parent community.
We also want to remind you that your feedback is essential and can be shared via enquiries@annesley.sa.edu.au. Whether it’s a suggestion, a concern, or a simple observation, every piece of input helps us fine-tune the LMS to better support our shared goals. Please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re listening.
This video also demonstrates how to access the Anney Support area, which will continue to be updated with helpful guides as the Anney journey progresses.
You might be wondering why we chose to go parent-facing in the second semester of this year. The answer is simple: we wanted time to iron out any creases before 2026, when we plan to launch a dedicated app to further streamline your experience. This phased approach ensures we build something robust, responsive, and truly useful for families.
The implementation of the LMS is a powerful example of our school motto in action—Dare to Become. By daring to innovate, to learn, and to grow together, we’re building a more connected and transparent learning environment for every student. This journey reflects our shared commitment to becoming the best version of ourselves—staff, students, and families alike.
Thank you again for walking this journey with us. We’re excited about what’s ahead—and we’re so glad you’re part of it.

Hot Shots Tennis Carnival – A Day of Fun, Teamwork & Triumph!
On Friday, 19th September, our Year 3 and 4 students represented Annesley Junior School with pride and enthusiasm at the Tennis Hot Shots Adelaide South East School Carnival held at Tennis World, Millswood.
From the moment we arrived, the energy was high and the smiles were wide. Our students showed incredible effort, resilience, and fairness throughout the day, rotating through games, cheering on teammates, and dancing to the music that added an extra layer of fun to the carnival atmosphere. The combination of tennis and tunes was a definite highlight!
Outstanding Behaviour & Representation
We are so proud of how our students conducted themselves. They supported one another, followed instructions, and truly embodied the Annesley spirit. Their behaviour and attitude were a credit to our school, and they made us all proud.

Thank You to Our Amazing Helpers
This day wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support from our parent helpers, who each managed a team of students, guided them through rotations, and ensured they stayed hydrated and energised. Your help made the day run smoothly, and we are so grateful for your time and care.
A massive thank you also goes to our dedicated staff team, Michelle, Lachie, Katy, Bernie, and Matt, for your support, organisation, and positivity throughout the day. You helped everything flow beautifully.

SAPSASA Track & Field Metro Athletics Championships
On Friday 19th September, four Annesley students proudly represented the Adelaide South East District at the SAPSASA Track & Field Metro Athletics Championships. It was an incredible day of competition, with our students showing great determination, skill, and effort across a range of events.
Emmii M had an outstanding day, competing in four events and bringing home four medals. She won the long jump with a distance of 4.04m (a stadium PB), claimed silver in the high jump with a new PB of 1.25m, took bronze in the 100m sprint with another PB (14.64s), and finished with a silver medal as part of her relay team. An amazing achievement, congratulations, Emmii!
Lily H competed strongly in the high jump, clearing 1.20m to equal her personal best from summer Little Athletics. A great effort under championship pressure, well done, Lily!
Max B was so close to the podium in both of his events, finishing 4th in long jump with 3.85m (just centimetres off a medal) and 4th in his relay after running a fantastic leg that had the team in second before being edged out at the finish. A brilliant effort Max, such exciting results!
Philly K competed in the shot put and finished solidly in the middle of the field. We are so proud of her efforts at this level of competition. Philly has already shown great determination, and this experience will only make her stronger for the future. Go Philly!
We are incredibly proud of all four students for their hard work, commitment, and for representing Annesley with such enthusiasm and positivity. Congratulations to Emmii, Lilly, Max and Philly on your fantastic achievements at SAPSASA!
Welcome to the new Mid-Year Reception class!
Students in Michaela’s Mid-Year Reception Class have had an outstanding beginning of school. They have enjoyed learning the new school routine and making new friends. They have quickly settled in and have shown exceptional resilience, persistence and an eagerness to learn.
Through our Unit of Inquiry ‘Who we are’ students have been learning about the Zones of Regulation, Bucket Filling and Bucket Dipping, the Annesley Essential Agreements and ‘how to be a good friend’. Enterprise has been a popular time for students as they explore their interests, passions, and skills through purposeful and targeted play based activities. Popular activities during this time have included construction – drawing plans, constructing buildings and critiquing final products, observational painting – including flowers, animals and people, and working in the farm where students have planted snow peas and sugar snap peas. The students can’t wait to extend their learning next term as well as enjoy some of the produce they have planted.
Eucalypt News
The children have been so interested in the worms this term. We have a compost bin in our garden and the children been so engaged adding our fruit scraps to it and looking for worms. Some children have even been holding the worms.
It has been a wonderful way to explore science and a connection with nature in an age appropriate and hands on way. The worms have also provided opportunities for group discussions.
We have offered painting in our room as a way for the children to explore the worms through the language of paint. They have enjoyed having a go at painting worms.
Last week we introduced clay as a new language for the children to represent their thinking about worms. We have started by exploring how the clay and the clay tools work in relation to each other before we ask the children to make a worm using these materials.
Frog Pond - a passion project
The Annesley frog pond started as a passion project in 2024. After research and inspiration from several sources the Annesley frog pond was planned. On Thursday Week 9, Spencer, Elise and April from Base 6 ran a fundraiser for the frog pond. Thanks to all who donated we were able to raise enough to complete the project.
The Annesley Frog Pond has been built in the old rabbit area in the farm. Thanks to Teresa who prepared the area and installed the pond and pump.
The pond still needs a name, so if you have any suggestions please talk to Spencer, April or Elise from Base 6, or Christiana. Next term we are expecting lots of froggy friends to come to the pond, so make sure to stop by!

U-Turns on Rose Terrace
We ask our families to refrain from undertaking U-turns on Rose Terrace when bringing your child to school or collecting them at the end of the day. It is unlawful to do a U-turn over the yellow barriers on the road and a safety concern during peak times for our community along Rose Terrace during these busy times.
Applications for siblings
A reminder to all families that if you have younger children that you have not yet submitted an application form for, that it can be done via this link: https://enrol.annesley.sa.edu.au/application-for-admission/start
An application must be submitted in order for a child to be considered for a place.
If you are not sure if you have submitted an application and wish to check, or for any other questions, please contact Laura in the Student Enrolments Office on 8422 2211 or email enrolments@annesley.sa.edu.au
Kiss & Drop
Through recent engagement with the Unley Council, they have confirmed guidelines for our community to follow when using the Kiss & Drop zone. Drivers must remain within 3 metres of their car in this zone and can only remain stopped for 2 minutes. If a driver moves further than 3 metres away, the 2-minute period no longer applies. We have had regular inspections from Unley Council of this zone recently. We ask our community members to adhere to these guidelines to avoid getting fined, and to keep our Kiss & Drop zone functioning effectively.
Supervision before and after school
A reminder to Primary families that supervision for our students is provided from 8.30am on school grounds. Prior to this time, students are not to be left onsite without an adult family member. Our Before School OSHC Service is available to families requiring early supervision from 7.30am to 8.30am. Similarly, staff supervision is provided after school until 3.45pm. OSHC is available to families needing care after school until 6pm.
From 4.30pm each day, OSHC requires exclusive access to the eastern playspace (including the soccer field and Adventure playgroun). After this time, families are asked to move to the western end, utilising the Court and Daphne Gum playground.
