Principal's Update - COVID 19

Well… what a year! Our team have been working hard the past 2 days to ensure we were ready for the potential of finishing 2020 through Distance Learning. As you’d be aware, the Premier has just announced that schools are to reopen on Monday 23 November. The Police Commissioner has just announced that masks are recommended but not compulsory. 2020 is truly a year of pivoting!

Annesley’s Leadership Team are meeting this afternoon and again first thing on Monday to assess the information at hand, in particular with regards to advice on events for the remaining 2 weeks of the school year. We are so pleased to be back with our students on Monday. More information to follow next week.

The Annesley Council

Our School is truly blessed to have a dynamic group of experienced and wise professionals on the Annesley Council. Annesley’s Council Members work collaboratively with a rigorous and respectful approach to governance, debate, planning, oversight and decision making. These generous volunteers are actively involved in the life of our School. Although the majority of their work is ‘unseen,’ the fruit of our School’s ongoing growth, development and investment is seeded in our Council Members’ visions, plans for and detailed oversight of this community.

According to the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the following are some of the responsibilities of those formally charged with the oversight of an organisation like ours;

  • Monitoring the strategic direction of the organisation and the attainment of its strategies and objectives in conjunction with the executive
  • Monitoring the operational and financial position and performance of the organisation generally
  • Reviewing and approving the organisation’s internal compliance and control systems and codes of conduct
  • Assuring that the organisation’s financial and other reporting mechanisms are designed to result in adequate, accurate and timely information being provided to the board
  • Approving the organisation’s budgets and business plans and monitoring major capital expenditures, acquisitions and divestitures, and capital management generally

A Note from our Chaplain

These recent days have imposed on us all some frantic changes and understandable stress. It is in these times when the quality and strength of our character shines through. It is also in these times when we need patience and courage to hold on to hope. I am thankful for the leadership, council, and staff of our Annesley community who all this year have strived to keep us safe while providing every opportunity for exceptional learning. I look forward to seeing you and the students again next week!

Praying for you all,

Peter Morton
